Centreline

It all started out by saying, saying I love you
Waiting for the words to take hold
A journey gone, a journey onward
Into what I do not know
So you wanna dance on the foothills of nowhere
Going up to the tallest range
So you wanna march down old Queen Street
Turn left at the passing lane

Come with me, hold my hand, she said
Come with me, the mistress of hope and destiny

Drifting over the centreline
And I can't understand why I'm still feeling fine
Drifting over the centreline
You and I

So I'm searching the sky for the escape hatch
Scraping all that blue off to find the edge
And I'm throwing in the words like they were towels
And your lips are flapping in the breeze

Come with me, hold my hand, she said
Come with me the mistress of hope and destiny

Drifting over the centreline
And I can't understand why I'm still feeling fine
Drifting over the centreline
You and I

So there's nothing to do and nothing to say
But there must be something
And I hold onto you and you hold onto me
And we both hold onto reason tied to some tree
It all started off by saying, saying I love you
Waiting for the words to take hold
A journey gone, a journey onward
Into what?
