All She Ever Wanted (3.52)

She was caught in a backwater
Of a small tangled town
Like a leaf in a pool slowly turning round
And he may have been good looking
And said he loved her true
And he may have driven fast to impress
But that ain't nothing new

And sometimes on the front porch
When the sun was going down
Her life would flast past
On the way to somewhere else
And an emptiness would rise up
Rise upĀ  inside her
Start at the corner of the mouth
And go straight to the heart

And she might be pretty
And she maybe sexy
But all she ever wanted
Was someone she could really talk to
And she might be walking
Into that wire
But all she ever wanted
Was someone she could really talk to

And what does the future hold
When there are no words
When the gaps between
Grown bigger than Hollywood
She's going to jump in her car
And drive madly away
Into the arms of a dream
Hundreds of miles away
